Julie has performed under such greats as Simon Rattle (Music Director, Berlin Philharmonic), Pierre Boulez and James Judd (previous Music Director, NZSO). She gave the British premieres of many pieces by contemporary composers and toured Eastern Europe with Scorpio Wind Quintet. Such experience gives Julie a wealth of exam and public performance preparation tips to pass on to her pupils. Julie currently plays with Windsor Trio, who most recently performed at the Lyttelton Street Party.

Julie teaches the flute and piano at home in Burwood, working with pupils of all ages and standards.

Since having her son she has become increasingly interested in making music with preschoolers. She is the first person to be awarded the  Institute of Registered Music Teachers' Diploma in Early Childhood Music and is a Registered Music Teacher. Her baby and toddler classes are always booked out weeks in advance of each term.
